Couture Beds and Secrets!

Since couture week marks a respite for many fashion show attendees (at least compared to the brutal ready-to-wear schedule) we chased down the scoop on where they stay and what they do in the city of light. Discuss!

Ivana Trump
“There is only one place to stay in Paris: the Bristol Hotel. I know the people there and it’s really a home away from home. I actually bring extra pieces of luggage from Newark just to send clothing to the dry cleaners at the Bristol! But then there’s usually a problem with customs…”

Franca Sozzani, Italian Vogue
“I stay at home–I have a house here. I like to see friends, go to restaurants, and do more during couture week because at pret-a-porter you don’t have time to do anything!”

Hilary Alexander, The Daily Telegraph
“I always stay in the Hotel Normandy when I’m in Paris. It’s decayed elegance. They have the biggest towels and they always find The Daily Telegraph for me at 7 a.m.. I try to always look at the Eiffel Tower at night. It’s an amazing piece of architecture and it endures, just like haute couture. I think they must be the same age!”

Becca Cason Thrash
“I always stay at the Ritz. Normally at couture, it’s nonstop but this week, it’s more austere. But I’m still going to the Stephane Rolland dinner tonight, then it’s two shows in the morning, then lunch, then more shows…it’s still non-stop! I’m also going to go to the Picasso exhibition.”

Glenn Close
“It’s my first couture season! I don’t visit Paris very often, so when I’m here I like to go for walks and to restaurants.”

Glenda Bailey, Harper’s Bazaar
“I always stay at the Hotel Montalembert. I’ve been staying there for 20 years!”

Daphne Guinness
“I’ve been coming here since I was a baby! I like to see my friends and do as much as work as possible and I stay in the Rue Cambon.”
