CR First: Anna Discusses Her Own Documentary in Utah!
It was noon in the Park City but the atmosphere during the second Sundance screening of The September Issue felt like primetime. Seats were packed to the core, Anna Wintour arrived in fur and on time, and director R.J. Cutler was already jubilant after selling off international rights to the film day and the half prior to today’s showing. Of course no one but the auteur bothered to attend the official premiere in Salt Lake City last night, so the first village screening this afternoon felt important. And it included a revealing Q&A with the filmmaker and the Vogue editrix. In summary, Wintour thinks that Grace Coddington is a real star of the film, was seemingly displeased that the magazines extracurricular activities and balls were left on the cutting room floor, and pointed out that nearly all of her e-mail suggestions were ignored. We hope you enjoy this choppy but informative session and our upcoming review of the film.
