We knew Kanye and Diddy have lots of love for Anna Wintour, but who knew Jay-Z was such a fan as well? While listening to the rapper’s latest, Empire State of Mind, we stopped short when we were sure we heard him drop the Vogue editrix’s name. Upon doing a little lyric research, it turns out the words are: “caught up in the in crowd/now you’re in-style/and in the winter gets cold en vogue with your skin out.” En Vogue? Coincidence? Chic thinks not, but have a listen for yourself…
Architecture and design merging with fashion is nothing alarmingly novel, but the latest exhibit at MUDE, Lisbon’s new Museum of Design and Fashion, pairs frocks with home design pieces, and with enchanting results! To view the exhibit “From Corbusier to Alaia,” you’ll have to wander through the unrefined (almost hazardous!) studio space that was once a bank headquarters in the 1950s. We are intrigued by the Giorgio Sant’ Angelo caftan displayed alongside a 1970 Olivetti Valentine typewriter…
This is the most charming vending machine we’ve seen, well…ever! Instead of Cheetos and Doritos, the Ted Noten-designed vending is packed with pretty red rings for €2.50, and above is a sign that suggests, “be nice to a girl, buy her a ring.” The ring machine is part of the Red Light Design, an effort to transform Amsterdam’s Red Light District into quaint jewelry shops. While the project seems like quite the feat, we are impressed with its beginnings. And remember, you don’t have to be in The Netherlands to be nice to girls or buy them rings. Hint, hint…
While the ORA watch concept designed by Alexandros Stasinopoulos looks like it could measure the width of a door frame, it actually can tell time! The dial is constructed from a set of three interwoven tapes, indicating the hour, minute and date. Suddenly our old analog watches seem like a snoozefest, non?
We must warn you: Juliette Has a Gun fragrance may have lethal effects. The Paris-based perfume brand launched its signature scent in an alarming (and yet, alluring!) silver bullet case. This ammo may not do you any good on the gun range, but the sleek (if not discreet) perfume is certain to come in handy in just about any other setting.
Paris has commenced! Here we are, in the Museé de l’Homme at Trocadero, waiting for Rochas to start. Seated front-row: Grace Coddington, Stefano Tonchi, Cathy Horyn (in lace-up oxford shoes), Anne Christensen, and of course, Anna Wintour….
Keletan-born Zang Toi is creating waves with his newest collection and has been picked up this morning by BTE TV, making the fashion and beauty news show’s main page. After experiencing the Spanish bullfights, the designer created his matador-inspired collection for Spring 2010. Kudos, Toi!

Drew Barrymore may have been fêting her directorial triumph of Whip It, a movie about rowdy roller derby girls, but she looked every inch the lady in her black laquered tweed L’Wren Scott dress.
Karl Lagerfeld and Lily Allen have joined forces to launch the Coco Cocoon Collection, Chanel’s new line of reversible handbags and totes that can be turned inside out to reveal the signature quilted Chanel pattern. Sharp-tongued Allen is the charming face of the campaign, and the line caters to the gorgeous jet-setter, including stunning and super-practical travel bags. We love the instant transformation these bags offer…like a caterpillar emerging a monarch!
