If you haven’t heard of Scarlett & Crimson yet, take note: The adorable little cartoon girls have gained cult status in the UK, but when designer Robert Cary-Williams created a limited-edition tank, the line reached an even wider group of chicettes. In the next week, 60 of the only 300 tanks will be sent out to a group of ladies in New York and L.A., and Chic Report is itching to see who gets one! Will you be one of the lucky? Marky Ramone, who debuted a Rock Scene capsule collection with Tommy Hilfiger, is indeed fluent in chic. It turns out that Marky and Tommy go way back: “I’ve known Tommy since ’86,” Marky told Chic Report. “I played in a band with his brother, Andy, and Tommy would come to rehearsals. He was just starting out at the time, working out of the trunk of his car.” As for the inspiration for the collection? “It’s just that era of tight jeans and t-shirts and leather jackets. People are bored of the baggy look because they’ve seen it done already. I see a lot of rock bands, girls and guys, wearing tighter fits–it’s come full circle. Carla Bruni Sarkozy finally made it to couture–and she didn’t disappoint. France’s First Lady wore an Yves Saint Laurent ‘Edition Soir’ by Stefano Pilati bustier evening dress to the 7th Annual Sidaction ‘Dîner de la mode’ dinner to close out the week. He’ll Wu You in BGIt’s offical. Jason Wu has made it. The Presidentially-approved designer has his own first window at Bergdorf Goodman. His reaction? “I’m just absolutely ecstatic,” he told Chic Report yesterday. “But I must admit, the cover of People was pretty surreal too!” Married to the Spring Mob!
If you’re a fan of Fafi or eclectic Parisian boutique Colette, we surmise that you’re already hooked on Married to the Mob! If you’re not in the know, Leah McSweeney broke ground when she founded the first women’s streetwear label in NYC. MTTM has since gone glam with their Colette/Reebok sneaker collab and sold-out-in-a-flash Nike Dunk High – a sneaker version of Chanel white boucle and black patent leather boots. The Spring ‘09 lookbook featuring rap artist Kid Sister has us fiending for that satin jacket, and the red slicker is sure to brighten up rainy April days. And the “Haute Couture Holler” t-shirt is the most brilliant MTTM graphic we’ve seen since the ladies put Anna Wintour’s head on a shirt.
