Tonight’s shaping up to be a doozy. There’s the Balenciaga after-party at Le Baron…Helmut Lang’s bash on rue de l’Universite…Bulgari’s store opening…Which will prevail? We expect Milla Jovovich and Lenny Kravitz at Bulgari… Philip Crangi, Is That You?
Waiting in the Tuileries for the Sophia Kokosalaki show to begin, Chic Report spotted Philip Crangi, in town for press appointments. Like the Proenza Schouler lads, he is renting a place in le Marais. After Sam Shaffer, who’s doing the same thing, invited him to his Vielle du Temple pad for a home-cooked meal, we had to get the scoop on his City of Light must-sees. “I’m just kind of bum-rushing everything,” he said. “Hitting up a few shows. But you know, my favorite thing to do in foreign countries is to go grocery shopping! And I love hardware stores.” Looking for inspiration for a new jewelry collection, perhaps? Fashion’s New Mount?
Last night at le Meurice’s Bar 228, Anne Slowey (who had been chatting with the Dazed & Confused crew) ambled over to a table helmed by Alexandra Marshall and Lauren Goodman. The literate and literary group quickly turned from talk of Alessandra Facchinetti’s Valentino issues and each individual’s astrological charts to Edith Wharton, whose breathtaking Berkshires home and museum is headed towards bankruptcy within mere months. “We should do something,” was declared, almost in unison. Could a Berkshire benefit be in the works? Any interested parties, email Chic Report at chicreport@fashionweekdaily.com. Hair Not So Apparent
The first thing everyone noticed at the Dior show was THAT hair. Chic Report found out that the pieces by Orlando Pita took nearly three days to create but it’s nothing compared to the sacrifice models were willing to give for the look. “The headpiece was so heavy, I felt like we all got a three-hour face-lift treatment,” laughed Chanel Iman. “But you know, anything for John [Galliano].” But some just take it in stride. “It was a bit weighty, but what can you do?” smiled Tanya D. “Our duty is to work his amazing dresses and look presentable for the next job.” Spotted with Nutella!
Karlie Kloss grabbing a crepe Nutella merely moments after walking in the Sophia Kokosalaki show. “I can’t help it!” She said. “They’re just so good!” September 29, 2008Euro be Damned!
They’re Ricci in Texas
© Getty Images A few Texans caught the Nina Ricci show for the first time on Sunday. Shelby Bryan was Anna Wintour’s date, and First Daughter and Dallas native Barbara Bush sat front row. Well, technically everyone sat front row in a highly constructed venue that featured three separate full-size runways (above Lily Donaldson with designer Olivier Theyskens). In fact, they were so long, by the time the models hit the last of the three catwalks, some guests were already nervously dialing their drivers. But not Milla Jovovich! She first wondered if the lit cameras were for a Daily reality show. They weren’t! And then she politely asked aloud: “Do we need passes to go backstage?” No, Milla, thankfully you don’t. Angela’s Kids and Dumbells
© First View Chic Report has a one of our all-time favorite models as a neighbor at our hotel! But of course, she’s getting well-deserved VIP treatment. Even though the hotel has only five floors, Angela Lindvall is staying right above on the sixth! “They’ve created a special floor for me,” she joked. But at least she’s back down to earth with the rest of us at the gym on the fifth floor for daily visits. “I’m trying to not to cheat and commit every day,” the supermodel told us after Balmain. “In general, though, this week has been tough. I miss my kids. They’ve already started school, but I’m afraid they won’t brag about their mother walking in Paris until they’re like 15. They’re too young to really understand what I do.” But mommy is coming home faster than she previously imagined. “Because of a job in the States, Chanel will probably be my last show,” she sighed.
