The fashion glitterati might be wearing elaborate costumes tonight, but we decided to unmask their secret obsessions, chic hobbies, and simple activities that make them happy in their everyday lives!
Dennis Basso:
My obsession, and I’ve had it as long as I can remember, is collecting things for entertaining — china, crystal, linens, serving pieces, anything that I can use to present a beautiful table. Each time we have a dinner party, I like the table to look entirely different from the other parties we’ve had. No matter where in the world I’m traveling, I find time to shop for new things for our home. My taste is quite varied, so I always seem to find something — from the simplest item up to the most elaborate. I have an open mind.
Terence Koh:
My favorite thing to do is flower arranging! I am in Japan for a few weeks to learn more about Ikebana which I have been doing myself since I was a child but I wanted to learn more from this crazy old lady who was a friend of my grandmother’s. I am the happiest after I have arranged flowers which I think reflect the current mood in the air, in the world, in everything!
Iekeliene Stange:
I’m obsessed with roller-skating and having pancake parties!

Jennifer Hudson, the spokeswoman for Avon’s Imari brand, celebrated last night at 583 Park Avenue and dished to Chic Report about her fashion experience as of late.
On André Leon Talley:
We email each other. I had to get André up on technology because he wasn’t a big technology person. I was like André, you don’t have a cell phone? André, you don’t email? He’s like, ‘I don’t email honey, I don’t do that,’ I was like, ‘No, no, no, we have to get that together. He definitely helps me out with fashion. This one time I was in Atlanta and I didn’t have something and I was like André I need this! He had them close the mall and open the stores for me. André is a powerful man!
On getting dressed with Patricia Field:
I’m still learning! She’s so far advanced it’s hard to keep up! I remember going to my first fitting for Sex and the City and I was like you can put that shoe with that! It always comes together in the end.

From bridal gowns to bridal gifts, Monique Lhuillier has come full circle with her latest venture, a collaboration of tableware, flatware, glassware, and giftware for Royal Doulton, inspired by fabrics and looks in her bridal collections.
What to expect from the collaboration–and a few words from Monique on the collection…
Femme Fatale: tableware & flat bone china giftware in a pearlescent grey pattern. “The lizard skin is what I’ll be using at home. I love that collection–the femme fatale.”
Atelier: tableware with a raised pattern in pearlescent white or sable; stemware and giftware feature cut thumbprint designs.
Joie: oversized wide and tall stemware and barware. “I do have a favorite of all of the pieces–the Joie glasses. And they’re really special because they’re all made from one piece of crystal.”
Ruban: stemware and barware with frosted bands etched into the glass.
Pointe D’Esprit: tableware with a white delicate tulle and bow pattern. “I didn’t want to eat off of lace, which I thought could be too corny or silly. Instead, I included scalloped trims and little bows to keep it simple yet elegant.”
Dentelle: tableware with a scalloped lace trim.
Etoile Platinum: tableware with a pearlescent white linen pattern with accents of stitching.
The plates retail for $120 to $140 for a five-piece set, while glassware averages about $35 per item. The collection will be sold exclusively at Bloomingdale’s and launches in January. “The next phase will include more colors–turquoise, green, coral–which will be a lot of fun. It launches in April,” revealed Lhuillier.

Last night Butter was bursting at the seams with famous faces. Jessica Stam, in Rachel Roy, fresh from the Angel Ball, was bouncing from table to table, dancing on couches, while Diddy, in Valentino, stuck to his table, flanked by his bodyguards. Chace Crawford stood at the table across from Diddy, sipping on a clear beverage, while Jamie-Lynn Sigler strutted in with her owner boyfriend, and John Legend showed up around 1 a.m. and headed to the back of the room, hidden from the crowd by a monstrous bodyguard.

Leopard, Python, Zebra, oh my! Normally seeing those animals on the street would scare us, but not when it comes to enhancing your wardrobe. Show off your wild side with leopard, giraffe, zebra, crocodile, and python prints and textures. Let’s not forget about a little plumage. You can dramatize and accessorize with feathers. While tapping into your animal instincts always remember to tame down this trend by wearing one piece at a time–you wouldn’t want to cause a rumble in the jungle.

Last night’s Keep a Child Alive Black Ball, honoring Bono, was star-studded with performances from Alicia Keys, Gwen Stefani, Sheryl Crow, and Bono himself, but some of the true gems of the evening came out during his acceptance speech for the Humanitarian Award.
“Give a rock star a few drinks and he’ll think he’s a philosopher. Soon, most Americans will realize that your country is not just a country, it’s an idea. Distance will no longer decide who is our neighbor. Where you live will not decide if you live or die. We in the West will embrace our poverty to redescribe ourselves to a world that doesn’t know who we are. Rock stars will spend more time in studios rather than out ranting and raving because their voices will be drowned out by their audience. And later tonight, I’ll have a few drinks and be dancing on tables!”

Lucky Shops is open for business and Juicy Couture was handing out Cesar dog food samples, hopefully to promote its new pet beauty and fragrance line. While attending the pre-VIP sale Thursday night, Sarah Michelle Gellar and model Bridget Hall took time out of their shopping to dish to Chic Report on what they do to stay lucky.
What do you do or wear for luck?
Sarah Michelle Gellar: “My friend gave me this wish bracelet. You make a wish on it and then wear it until it shreds. I just hope mine shreds soon.”
Bridget Hall: “I wear my vintage cowboy tees and cowboy boots during Dallas football games.”

Linda Evangelista at last night’s The Fashion Group International Night of Stars Gala: “I’m kind of envious of young models these days. They seem so carefree and irreverent. They just put something on, run out of the house, and they’re ready to go. I’m certainly of a different generation.”

This presidential election, candidates are not only selling themselves, but selling their promotional merchandise. John Edwards, Hilary Clinton, Mike Huckabee, and Barack Obama are hoping to gain more votes by targeting the younger women and college students, appealing to their fashion sense. With price ranges anywhere from $15-$20, you can wear a tee that says, “ObamaMama”, or pin-up with an “I’m for Hilary. Ask me Why!” $3 button. What a way to buy your vote.

Gilles Mendel: “I skied since I was one! I was on the French national team a long time ago and I was good in three disciplines: slalom and downhill were my favorites. So yes, I’m obsessed and I still travel to places like St. Moritz to keep up my hobby!”
