Chic Showdown: We See London, We See France…

chloe sevigny zoe saldana miu miu showdown

Chloe Sevigny and Zoe Saldana had the same idea at Friday night’s Prada book launch in L.A., sporting a cut-to-there blouse and pencil skirt combo by Miu Miu. Now, Chic Report has no problem with a bit of décolletage (see: Blake Lively at last night’s Cinema Society screening), but putting these bland beige bras on display is just not our cup of tea. What say you, darlings?

What do you think about the brassiere, front and center?

Victor Victoria

Karl’s favorite Baptiste Giabiconi goes head-to-head with androgynous model du jour Iris Strubegger in this VMAN spread, “Gentlemen of Leisure,” shot by the Kaiser himself. As dishy as Baptiste is (comme toujours), we’re loving the look of the lady in an equally sharp suit–giving the boys a run for their money. Tell us, darlings:

Who wears a suit better?

This Cat Thing Is Getting Un Peu Ridiculous…

cory lynn calter cats

Post-Paris Fashion Week, the world was abuzz that cats would be the next big thing. Miuccia Prada put them all over her Miu Miu runway, and Vanessa Seward was inspired by her own pet, Monsieur Jo, for her Azzaro collection. Fresh from Chic Report’s inbox, we give you a shot from L.A.-based designer Cory Lynn Calter’s spring 2010 lookbook–including several pieces featuring the feline friends. We’re getting burned out on this trend before it even happens–but what do you think, darlings?

What do you think about cat clothes for spring?

Black Is The New Black?

v blackface

Following Lara Stone’s controversial turn in French Vogue and a recent episode of America’s Next Top Model, it seems that blackface is a veritable (if unlikely) trend. Mario Sorrenti photographed Sasha Pivovarova and Heidi Mount in this shot for the latest issue of V, which hits newsstands November 3. James Kaliardos made up the lovely ladies–and we’re sure the image will have as many fans as it does detractors. What say you, chicsters?

What do you think about blackface in fashion editorials?

Bazaar’s September Showdown!

The much-anticipated September issues are slowly but surely sneaking out, and we’re loving how different each book looks. But what’s even more fascinating? How different two editions of the same book can be! Harper’s Bazaar’s UK edition takes a pared-down approach, featuring a fresh-faced Natalia Vodianova and a natural background on a sparsely coverlined front. Bazaar’s US edition, on the other hand, goes for all-out glamour, from Leighton Meester’s glimmering Derek Lam dress to the bright gold backdrop. Which do you prefer?

Who’s Bazaar’s better September issue cover girl?

Who Loves Les Petits?

This morning came news that Marc Jacobs is launching a line of swimwear for his Little Marc clients (he’s cultivating the cult of Marc young, non?). Of course, from Phillip Lim’s adorable kids’ line to the sweet creations offered by J.Crew’s Crew Cuts, designer clothes for babes is nothing new. So tell us:

Who do you want to see jump on the kids’ clothes bandwagon?

Whitney Contemporaries: An Hervé Showdown!

© Getty Images

It doesn’t take much to get a fabulous starlet into an Hervé Léger by Max Azria number, and with the designer himself sponsoring the Whitney Contemporaries Art Party last night, Chic Report knew the bandage dresses would be partout. There was Ali Larter, who topped her printed dress off with a chunky Erickson Beamon necklace, Alexis Bledel’s plunging brown look, Melissa George’s minimalist take, and Tinsley Mortimer, who channeled Malibu Barbie in turquoise.

To Maquillage, or Not to Maquillage?

Elle’s French counterpart made headlines recently for putting natural beauties like Eva Herzigova on the cover sans makeup, but we think they’ve taken the concept a bit too far. Don’t get us wrong, now–Scarlett Johansson, the mag’s newest cover star, is as gorgeous as they come–but Chic Report thinks she might have benefitted from a swipe of mascara or a smudge of blush. What say you, chicettes?

How do you feel about Scarlett’s French Elle cover look?

Third Time’s A Charm?

© Patrick McMullan, Getty Images

When Lisa Airan (inset) sported her leopard-print Lanvin frock to the Gordon Parks Celebrating Fashion dinner and gala last night, we knew we had seen it before…twice. Aerin Lauder wore the dress to the Fragrance Foundation Fifi Awards just last week, and back in January, Maggie Gyllenhaal wore the longer version to the Golden Globes. Now, we can appreciate a fashion repeat, especially when the dress is this fabulous. But three times? What say you, darlings:

Who wore it best?
